Resources in the classroom CCS believes in well equipped classrooms. Teachers cannot be expected to do an exceptional job teaching without needed resources. Our active, hands-on teaching philosophy requires us to have many manipulative and art materials available to students. We are committed to a literature-rich environment. Each classroom has 2-3 computers and a printer with a variety of software. Ultimately, we plan to use the Internet and other technology resources as teaching tools so the students will become comfortable using them in a variety of ways. Community Resources CCS also firmly believes in using the community as a classroom. Our students go on a number of field trips each year that are carefully chosen to support our curriculum. Each class attends several plays at the Children's Theatre throughout the year and also attends monthly field trips to both the Children's Art Project and Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home. We also attempt to bring community resources such as the Charlotte Symphony Guild and the Raptor Center into the school whenever possible. Transportation for our field trip will be provided utilizing both bus transportation and parent volunteer drivers. |
